So Much for Plans 9/9/15

We were on the road by 8:00 and I had just written a sassy text to the kids to let them know we were on our way and that some day they too could retire, when Bob noticed the truck sounding funny. Then the light came on with a warning that the transmission was heating up. We pulled over and called the nearest dealer in Hillsdale who told us to bring it in. We were blessed to only be 7 miles from the dealer and a half an hour from home. We spent the morning in their waiting room and found out the transmission needed to be replaced. Picture dollar bills flying from our wallets. The technician, Joe, told us he couldn't have the parts and get it fixed until the next week unless we picked up a transmission ourselves. They found one in Maumee, Ohio. They gave us a ride home and our incredible neighbor, Chuck, met Bob in the drive ready to drive him to Ohio. They got the transmission back to Hillsdale and Joe had already started tearing the old one out of our truck. He then thought he might have it done by Thursday afternoon. Meanwhile, Chad took Bob back over to pick up our trailer. After that crazy, exhausting day, we were back in our own bed for a good nights sleep.
